👋 Good morning, everyone! I'm Ethan Kline, and this is #200 of Younger Colors, a newsletter that documents student life and connects the community. Let’s jump into today’s post!
🎉 200 posts on Younger Colors!
Last March we hit 100, but seriously, 200!? This is so cool! Big props to all of our writers for the blog. We have about 400,000 words in our archive, enough to fill a novel. Thank you, thank you, thank you to everyone who enjoys what we do here, and here’s to 300!
🙌 Younger Colors wants YOU!
Whether you’re writing here on the blog or shadowing me during one of my sessions, Younger Colors would love to have you on our team. Blogging is super straightforward, and it is easy to learn how to use Substack. As for accompanying me as I photograph, I may have you film my sessions and teach you how you can become a photographer yourself. If you’re interested in either role, feel free to email us at youngercolors@gmail.com or text my cell at 423-397-9669.
🎨 Let’s hear about That Vinyl Duo!
If you haven’t been seeing my stories, I’ve posted plenty about That Vinyl Duo and all that they do! Together we designed some amazing Younger Colors merchandise, and everything came in just as I asked it! Every item is true to size and so comfortable! If you can think it, they can most likely print it for you. I will definitely be going to them again soon, and you should too! You can find them on their socials @Thatvinylduo.
âš” My personal heroes
These figures have been my personal heroes since starting Younger Colors and have had the most influence on my professional life:
paul andrew skidmore
If you haven’t had a chance at reading our interview, paul is a man of many talents. He’s been a self-published author, director, and photographer, and that probably isn’t even half of it. I always like to mention him to you all because I was such a fan of his stuff at fourteen years old and still am today. At the time I wanted to be an author, but that soon turned into a love for blogging. He is the person who has seen me grow the most during high school, though he had to see me at the peak of my angst. Freshman year was rough.
Ebot Agborsangaya
This is someone who loves what he does and how he does it. Also the sweetest guy! I stepped to him at a 4-H conference with a few questions about phtoography, and he offered so much feedback on the spot. Since then he’s been mentoring me as I practice photography and graphic design, and his friendship has been invaluable.
Stop what you’re doing right now and go check out his portfolio, because it is on another level. Show ancelstudios* some love!
Le-An Thomason
I have to brag on our school’s Teacher of the Year! She helped me get certified in Microsoft Applications last year, and now she’s offered me plenty of aid in business and entreprenuership. If I’m about to make a decision on something for Younger Colors, I’ll usually text and ask her what she thinks. Communications is something I’ve always wanted to learn, and I am loving the course so far.
wow, Ethan! that really means a lot. i've appreciated our conversations over the years, watching you grow as a man and as a creator. and i've said it before, but i'm VERY inspired by your consistency, writing, publishing, creating every day. it encourages me to do the same. thank you for the shout out.
